Yukata Inspired at Danaca Design Gallery

I have two mixed-media pieces on 8”x8” cradleboard for Yukata Inspired 2024, an exhibition at Seattle’s Danaca Design Gallery. It runs May 10 to June 23, and includes new works from 20 jewelry artists and 11 collage artists, all inspired by historical textile samples.

Making work for this show was one of the most satisfying moments of the year so far; the gallery sent each artist two samples of vintage kimono fabric, sourced by Okan Arts. My patterns were ikebana and morning glory, and it was a lucky match, in that I have considerable source material that relates to ikebana and Japanese flower arrangement and garden aesthetics more generally. It’s a great showcase of multidisciplinary creativity, and I’d love if you checked out my work in it.
