On Language, Speech, and Silence
These works grapple with language and its myriad uses, often interrogating what happens when text is stripped of context. Layers of text sourced from vintage dictionaries and instructional aids are combined to create a cacophony of communication and suggest the limits or constraints of language, as much as its potential.
At present, I’m deepening my work in this stream, and considering the theme of silence in particular, to explore issues related to the effects of transient aphasia and other means of silencing.
